Greenwood Bay - Helping Save Houston's Urban Forest!

Bob Card, owner of Greenwood Bay, contacted Trees For Houston, a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to "plant, promote and protect trees all over the greater Houston area and will be lending financial support to their mission.

For each piece commissioned in September or October, Greenwood Bay Woodworking Studio will make a donation to Trees For Houston to water a drought-stricken tree for a year. Mention the Red Vault, and the donation will be doubled for any item that is listed on the Red Vault website or for work commissioned from slabs that are currently in Greenwood Bay's inventory.

Here is a photo of some of the slabs that are in his current stock:

In the coming weeks, he will have additional news about his evolving relationship with Trees For Houston, so watch his website: www.greenwoodbay.net

On a separate note, Bob recently was part of a panel discussion at New Living's store in the Rice Village. This event is the first in a series called "Houston's Best Future" and features local experts discussing the social, economic, and ecological advantages of having a strong local economy, and sharing their experiences working and advocating a strong local economy in Houston.

Finally, Bob was interviewed by the local Fox affiliate!  Bob and his wife decided to capture the water from their air conditioner and are getting 100 gallons a week that they can then use on our garden. Here's the link:

Congratulations, Bob!!
