The Ian Collection at The Beautiful Room
Say Hello to Ian
by Deborah Jamail of The Beautiful Room
It’s easy to create a gorgeous, romantic bedroom for girls using antique French curves and accents, soft pastels, and graceful lines. Nothing more girly than French!
But what about boys? There isn’t much out there that can define their interests and become pieces they will grow into. Most furniture marketed for boys usually lacks detail, is too juvenile or comes in pieces put together with a wrench and diagram. That’s why I created the Ian Collection, named after my nephew. The Ian Collection has dimension and originality, detail, and an eclectic historical as well as industrial feel -- think American adventurer, British explorer, Hogwarts, Tom Sawyer, and Indiana Jones. A gentleman’s room full of curiosities. In addition to furniture, I have added vintage accessories and original art that add color and interest. With the Ian Collection heirloom quality pieces are now available for “his room”. Add one or two pieces, and he will have the ultimate club house.

About the Artist
James Leonard has emerged as one of California’s leading abstract expressionist painters. Leonard’s emotionally charged landscapes often portray backdrops for figures dramatically suspended. Leonard grew up in Nashville, Tennessee and has always been drawn to the early expressionists of the 1930’s and 40’s. The German painter Gerhard Richer has had an influence on his style, approach, and directness.Working with acrylics on canvas, Leonard uses bold horizontal and vertical strokes and strong color to the viewer’s emotions. “Art has always been the focus of my life,” he says. “Just as our lives unfold in unique and beautiful ways, so do my paintings have their own unique and individual expression.”
Thornwood Gallery has been dedicated to bringing the works of painters, sculptors, and fine art photographers from all over the world to Texas since 2001. The gallery currently represents over forty contemporary artists whose techniques and subject matter vary as much as the different locations to which they reside in worldwide. Margaret Griffith of Inside Out Studio
The Red Vault introduced Margaret Griffith of Inside Out Studio today in our newsletter. She is well known as a pet portrait artist, but she also paints amazing landscapes and still lifes.
Margaret's Artist Statement:
Becoming one's own artist is the ongoing challenge of every painter. Whether I am working on a pet portrait, a landscape, or a still life, I am always striving to communicate an inner emotion.
Margaret's Artist Statement:
Becoming one's own artist is the ongoing challenge of every painter. Whether I am working on a pet portrait, a landscape, or a still life, I am always striving to communicate an inner emotion.
I want my audience to relate to each work as it speaks out to them. There should always be a strong connection linking the artist, the painting, and the onlooker.
